Sarah joined the MFG Design Center in August 2015. She completed both BS and MS degrees in civil engineering from Portland State University and is a licensed structural engineer (California PE). Her work includes all aspects of structural analysis and supports many of MFG’s entities. She is proficient in Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and general structural design.

Typical of her assignments is a recent project performing FEA on a new compression molded product for MFG CSC. The analysis helped guide the design phase of the product. Multiple loading scenarios were simulated, and design modifications made based on the data. Integrating analysis with design in this way resulted
in a more robust final product that satisfied the customer’s vision.

John Fernandes, Design Center director explains, “Sarah’s expertise in FEA has expanded MFG’s capabilities. Her professional knowledge and dedication is impressive and we appreciate her contribution to the team.”

Sarah lives in Portland with her husband, Jim, who is also an engineer. In her free time she enjoys hiking, camping, backpacking, skiing and running. Her dog Ava usually tags along.
